The Outpatients Department

The pillar for the functioning of our charity hospital... The first point of call for any visiting patient.

Midland Doctors Medical institute (MDMI) primarily is an elective medical care hospital except paediatrics where we have an emergency assessment and treatment unit. The hospital functions six days a week. The pillar of its functioning is the outpatient’s facility. It is open from 9 am till 4 pm every day. Patients are given card with their demographics and are also assessed for zakat eligibility. They are then seen by medical staff in outpatients.

The people you meet here will give the clothes on their back to show their gratitude. They accept your kindness in disbelief that anyone could care about them without an agenda.
Dr Hamera Hussain

Six junior doctors manage the outpatient activity, supported by two consultant paediatricians, seeing approximately 200 patients each day. Patients are treated for minor illness, examinations, procedures, pre-operative assessments or follow-ups in our outpatient’s department. Furthermore, clinics are also conducted by the Cardiology Consultant, Consultant General/Laparoscopic surgeon, and Consultant Urologist. Patients requiring surgical treatment are placed on waiting list and operated on Friday afternoons on the Urology and General Surgery list. The hospital, therefore, admits patients on Thursday and it functions as an in-patient facility too on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The key to outpatient’s activity are pre-assessment with blood pressure monitoring and history taking by trained nursing staff. Thereafter, patients are seen by doctors. Majority of patients are investigated with blood and X-ray tests. According to the diagnosis, therapeutic medical treatment is instituted and pharmacy dispenses medicine. Visiting consultants also conduct outpatient’s activity on a regular basis as well as surgeries on patients from select clinics.

Clinics are now managed with appointment basis to avoid unnecessary wait or crowding in waiting room. Each examination room aims to respect the privacy and dignity of each patient visiting our health institute.

How can I help Midland Doctors®?

We are always in need of donations to help run our charity hospital in Muzaffarabad whilst also participating in many other charitable projects across the world. Of course, not all contributions are monetary. Your time and effort to help fundraise, manage and drive our organisation forward will always be welcomed and appreciated!
