Ophthalmology

Giving the gift of eyesight to those who don’t have the means for even the simplest of resources.

Outpatient diagnostic services in the MDMI Ophthalmology Department are run by a very dedicated, effective and efficient optometrist. The department is very well equipped with the latest technology to provide the best eye treatment. The equipment is not only state of the art but also prevents cross infection. We are grateful to Canadian for Global Care (CGC), Chaired by Dr Yasmeen and Mr Malik Hemani from Vancouver who funded the entire ophthalmology equipment. The entire unit has been refurbished by the donation of CGC, thanks to Mr Malik Hemani and Mrs Rozy Hemani.

The MDMI offers specialized and surgical treatment for both adults and children. From conducting a simple eye examination to conducting cataract and other eye surgeries free of cost is a provision made to patients visiting the MDMI.

Whenever I hold the Qur’an and read with these glasses, I will remember those who have helped to erect this building.
Rajdeen, Patient at MDMI

The vision to establish an ophthalmology department came very early on when one of our executives was running a clinic to see patients in the hospital. An elderly man came in from a nearby village. He had travelled to the hospital because he felt he could no longer see. After a brief assessment, the man was simply given a pair of glasses and he could see again. For a man who thought he was turning blind, a humble pair of glasses brought back the gift of eyesight for him. He poured his heart out, filled with his prayers and blessings for the doctors, staff and the hospital, which we still remember to this day. This story highlighted for us the deprivation in the area, and it was at this point we realised that whilst the lack of resources and supplies, such as optical glasses, is prevalent across the region, due to this the people will be suffering from multiple further ailments and complications purely due to not having the tools and services to tackle the problem early.

If you’d like to see his reaction, click the video link below. You may not understand what he says, but love, prayers and happiness are there to be felt! P.S. it has subtitles!

How can I help Midland Doctors®?

We are always in need of donations to help run our charity hospital in Muzaffarabad whilst also participating in many other charitable projects across the world. Of course, not all contributions are monetary. Your time and effort to help fundraise, manage and drive our organisation forward will always be welcomed and appreciated!
