When COVID-19 struck the world, we had no idea how this would impact us as a charity. In March 2020, everything began to change and we realised things may not be the same for a very long time. The months leading up to Ramadan are typically the days we hold most of our charity fundraisers and we have always adopted this traditional approach to fundraising. During these months of 2020, we had already booked in fundraisers for every weekend in many cities across the UK as well as in Dubai to raise money at our annual events. The bulk of our donations come from these events, and so it was devastating when we found out we had to cancel these events, of course to ensure the safety and good health of all – our primary priority.
It was now time to innovate and adopt a completely new marketing strategy. We had to go digital! We brought in an in-house marketer, Maha Jabbar, who revamped our social media channels, integrating Facebook’s charitable giving tools into our Facebook and Instagram pages. This allowed us to begin taking donations via social media. We then realised that it was our opportunity to revamp our website which previously had not been built in an innovative or robust way to cater for taking donations. Maha, along with the help of our longstanding executive trustee, Toni Kent-Chapman, began working on this new and exciting project! We took on the help of Geoff Hill of Hill Langdell and Paul Hickman of Webiness to design and develop the website, creating something with the vision to take Midland Doctors® to new heights! We thank all those who have helped achieve this milestone and we look forward to continuing on our digital journey!
